Investigations

Investigators from the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, along with social workers from the Department for Children and Families work as a team to investigate over 2,000 abuse related cases a year. Each case is then built from information gathered during forensic interviewing, medical examinations, and the collection of any corroborating evidence.

Highly experienced forensic interviewers take a child-focused approach to gather as much critical information as possible during a single forensic interview process. Working together in this way helps avoid creating additional trauma that victims of abuse can experience through telling their stories.
