Shift in Perspective: A Preventative Approach in Reducing Child Abuse and Neglect
What prevention efforts are established that focus on preventing child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place? The answer is very little. This training will focus on primary prevention strategies to empower mandatory reporters, help-seeking agencies, and all individuals who interact with families in their communities to help alleviate the risks of child abuse and neglect before the need of a hotline report. Through a strengthening families framework, emphasizing protective factors, and individual and agency-wide equity awareness, factors that impact child abuse and neglect can be reduced. This training will allow dialogue on this perspective shift and allow for attendees to brainstorm best practices and create achievable action steps to prioritize supporting families in our communities. 1-hr KDHE approved.
