Diana Schunn

Diana received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel College. She is licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN and is certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner- Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A), and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Pediatric (SANE-P). She began her career as a surgical recovery floor nurse followed by 3 years in the emergency room and trauma unit. She went on to become the Director of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Response Team (SANE/SART) Program at Via Christi St. Joseph for 15 years. She was the first SANE in the state of Kansas and even helped start SANE programs throughout the state and nationwide. She has worked adult and pediatric sexual assault cases and completed rape/homicide evaluations.

She sat on the steering committee to develop the CAC and was the first person hired at the CACSC in 2008. Diana loves working at the CACSC because of the compassion, collaboration, and hope we can bring to some of the most difficult moments in a child’s life. She loves the team concept because it reduces trauma and helps children begin their healing process. She believes that the CACSC shows what it means to truly put children first. She enjoys the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing group of professionals. She really likes speaking publicly about the CACSC and getting to educate the community about child abuse and how we all play a role in helping protect children. When she isn’t working on her computer, she loves the lake, spending time with her family and friends, and watching hopelessly romantic movies.
