This training explores the use of technology as it relates to mental health and telemental health practices. Various documents that guide the practice of different mental health professionals are named, while the NASW document “Technology in Social Work Practice” is discussed in depth. Specific time is spent looking at each ethical component of Designing/Delivering Services and Gathering/Managing/Storing Information. Attendees will explore best practices for the delivery of teletherapy and work in small groups to discuss ethical dilemmas that may arise while using technology in practice.
Target Audience: Professionals who hold licensure and are required to attend ethics trainings. This training is focused on the NASW Code of Ethics and targeted to reach those who are licensed through the Kansas BSRB. However, other professionals are welcome to attend. (This training has not been submitted to KDHE and does not have KDHE approval. It is not intended for early childhood educators.)
