This training focuses on the diagnosing and treatment of children who are younger than 5 years old. The training will present information about assessments and evidence-based publications that support the diagnoses. There will be an explanation of how to use the Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood (DC: 0-5) as a supportive tool to use in conjunction with the DSM 5-TR to reach a diagnosis. The participants will have the opportunity to engage in the process of diagnosing a child who is three or younger. In addition to diagnosing information, there will be an explanation of the creation and use of support plans that are used for the short-term intervention services offered at Rainbows. Participants will also see a variety of intervention tools that have been successfully used with young children. The session will end with information regarding statistics of the diagnoses of Early Childhood Mental Health department at Rainbows.
